Self-catering, Lochcarron

The house is ideally placed within walking distance of activities to keep you busy for a week, and within driving distance of a multitude of attractions...

Fantastic house! So well equipped, spacious and homely. Everything needed for a lovely stay and superb garden and views. Great to have chairs and rugs for sitting outside. Recommend Misty Isle Cruises for Elgol to Loch Coruisk, on a clear day spectacular. Applecross Walled Garden for lunch, walks to Sandy Bay and Coral Beach. Carron Restaurant and the Bistro for lunch or dinners. Thank You!

Slumbay "island" (actually a peninsula most of the year) is close and yet mysterious with three distinct landscapes. The loch is accessible for water activities, with the bay of the island very calm water.

Adventure around the corner

It is possible to walk directly from the house, or take a 15 minute drive to a choice of mountains, forests or passes for a day's hike. It is a good base for Munro bagging and longer walks towards Torridon. These include almost flat walks on surfaced roads or forest tracks, well maintainted paths through hunting estates, deep marshy heather, and more.

Climbing, Walking and Driving

The main village is a 20 minute walk with shops, bank, playground, shinty field, petrol stations, restaurants, pubs and hotels, a medical centre and library. There is also a 9 hole golf course.

A railway station at Strathcarron is on one of the most beautiful stretches of railway in the country, allowing fun days out to Plockton or Inverness, or access to Lochcarron for those without cars (but you should arrange a taxi from the station).

Kishorn has one of the best seafood restaurants, while the adventurous who drive over the challenging road to Applecross can be rewarded by the famous food at the inn there.

This was our second holiday at Lochcarron and we have had a fabulous week. Lovely views for the house. Sunrise spectacular but need to be up early to see it.
